Until recently, scientists believed our DNA held the blueprint to prevent and reverse disease. But we now know that environment—not our genes—is the primary driver of health and longevity. Recent research suggests that our genes account for approximately 10 percent of the risk of chronic disease. In this talk, Sara Gottfried M.D. will discuss the complex interplay between our DNA and our environment—and explain the proven diet, lifestyle, and behavioral strategies that most effectively lengthen health span, the period of time you feel in healthy and in your prime.
Groundbreaking research by Dale Bredesen, MD has shown that early cognitive decline may be preventable or even reversible if addressed quickly. The research outlines 36 metabolic factors that can trigger “downsizing” in the brain. Once again, we are finding that genes are not the only factor in developing diseases like Alzheimer’s. Using an integrative medicine approach including lifestyle modifications, Dr. Serraiocco will explain how you can take steps towards rebalancing these factors and improve brain health.
